About

To all of my beautiful Joyful followers:

I am Kate and this is the place to learn a little about me.  I am a forty-year old, athlete, educator, coach, wife (husband Matt, below), mother of 1 (daughter, Harper, below) with another bundle of joy on the way in April, and I am a lover of all things organized and simple.  I have set out on this journey to find JOY and to help others to reduce baggage and simplify their lives.

I have a passion and a distinct ability to help others and to build them to their fullest potential.  As a child, I was a “sportsaholic”.  I never left home without my sports gear, but frequently forgot to bring home my books (oops!).  I played field hockey, I competed in downhill skiing, and I played softball.  I entered the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1995 and played Division 1 Field Hockey for the University.  I was an All-American and a Co-Captain of the team, along with graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Sports Management.  After college, I entered the corporate world working as a Marketing Assistant for a Sports Technology firm called Avid Sports.  I worked for Avid Sports and eventually for Pinnacle Systems, Inc. (same company, different name) as a Marketing Assistant and inevitably as the Director of Marketing for North America, before leaving to gain a Master’s Degree.

It was at this time that I decided that I was able to make a bigger difference pursuing a different career.  I entered the Curry School for Education at the University of Virginia in 2005, to gain a Masters in English Education.  I graduated in 2007 and immediately began teaching high school English and coaching high school Field Hockey.  We moved a bit for my husband’s job, so I gained rich experiences teaching in Charlottesville, VA, Lexington, VA, Philadelphia, PA, and Herndon, VA, before taking a position as an Instructional Coach at another school in Northern Virginia.

I entered George Mason University in the Summer of 2013 to gain a second Masters Degree in Education Leadership.  Upon finishing, I took a job as an Assistant Principal in Fairfax County and it is what I am presently doing.

On the side, I have owned my own business called Stavish Training, LLC which, at first, served young athletes in training them to be field hockey players, through growing both their physical talents and their mental talents, alike.  It has been a beautiful outlet for growing my business into this new, second venture called Joyful Living Spaces.

I am happy to be following my heart and starting the journey with all of you to effect your lives in a positive and meaningful way.  It is my intention to continue to grow your lives through simplification, coaching, and organizing.

I look forward to meeting you and to helping you reach your fullest JOY potential.
